we went to conference. 2 weeks ago...

Why yes.  We did attend General Conference in October.  It was a perfect conference Sunday and we happened to make it just in the nick of time before they gave our seats away.

We always plan more than enough time to get to SLC, find a parking spot, and be seated 30 minutes before start time.  Or so we always think.  Parking always gets a little tricky.  

But we made it.  That's all that mattered.

And like I said, it was a perfect day.

We got to go with some of our good friends in our ward, Danie and Dustin.  The Toad and Brain went with us too, but we failed to get pictures with them due to the fact that they went ahead of us while we found parking so they could save seats.

Danie and Dustin are pretty rockin'.  Danie bought me my mint pants and has my same fettish for reading books, books, and more books.

Conference was incredible this October.  I felt like every talk was geared toward me no matter what.  It was a conference T and I tried our best to prepare for and ready ourselves to be in tune with the spirit.  In fact, my notes towards the end got super sloppy.  We all know what that means.  That means it's starting to get good and the personal revelation you're receiving is out of control.

It's a good feeling.

I'll never fail to be amazed to be in the same room as the Prophet of God.  To hear apostles testify of the truthfulness of the gospel and bear testimony of a living Savior.  It inspires me.  It uplifts me.  And most importantly, my spirit is fed and my testimony grows.

I love conference!

sunday pondering.

Once upon a time I made a video for T for Father's Day.  After all, he is the future father of our children, so he had a right to a great Father's Day too (he even got a tie!).

He does special things for me on Mother's Day too.  We're quirky and cute like that.  It's good practice for when the day comes that we do actually have kids and need to remember important days.

I also got to go to a pretty fabulous Relief Society fireside a couple of weeks ago.  It got me thinking a lot.  I've done a lot pondering and praying on love and my home.  I even focused on Moroni 7:45 for my personal scripture study for a few days and changed the word "charity" to "love."

I think it's made me a better wife and all around person.

And T deserves the best I have to offer him and give him.

a fixed problem.

This week I've had a problem I've been trying to solve.

It wasn't until tonight that I realized I was going about it all the wrong way.  I was searching around on internet sites and wondering how others had gotten past the same problem.  I was being incredibly selfish in how I was going about it all.  I wanted to do it my way and figure it out on my own.

Tonight, I had an AHA! moment.  A moment where it was as if Heavenly Father finally just took a board and whacked me over the head.  The answer happened to be right in front of my face and would have saved a whole lot of time too.

Where was my answer?  It was where all answers are.  In the scriptures.  The Book of Mormon to be exact.

The saddest part of this experience?  That I even taught a lesson last week on how to better succeed in life and one of the ways was to search the scriptures diligently.  Obviously, I'm eating my own words. 

And you know what?  I don't mind.

Here's to a Heavenly Father who knows our needs, loves us, and forgives us of our mistakes.

a scripture study morning.

If there's one thing I love the most about summer it's the fact that I get to study the scriptures in the morning.  It's not often during the school year that I get a lot of time for in depth personal scripture study.  

During the summer, I can really study and mark things up!

Today I dived into a study on Mosiah 18:9 on the covenants made at baptism.  It's been quite a while since I've really been able to focus on one verse.  It was actually quite rewarding!

T has been teaching the Gospel Principles class every other week on Sundays.  It's been nice to go back to the basics during church and relearn the doctrine of the church that is taught in primary.  I can honestly say that I've thought more about baptism in the past few months than I ever have before.  

It's been fun to go to all of my students baptisms and see them make their own covenants at baptism.  It's been even better to be taught over and over every first Saturday of the month about the covenants we make at baptism! 

How long has it been since you studied up on the covenants we make during the first ordinance we ever participate in as members of the LDS church? (whoa.  That's a long sentence.)

a daily scoop.

Last week I started a scripture journal page on the basics of the gospel and what blessings we receive from them..

You know the ones.

Pray, read the scriptures, go to church, etc.

We hear them every week in Sunday School as answers to questions.

Last week I was convinced that even though they were nice answers, I realized I didn't know enough about them to give them as an answer.

Enter two pages dedicated to the "basic" answers in my scripture study journal.  It was a fun study that I turned into a weeklong study on the basics I wanted to be better at.  

(1) Temple  (2) Prayer  (3) Service  (4) Scripture Study

 I wouldn't call myself an expert on them by any means, but I can claim to understand them a bit better.

Everyone needs a daily scoop of ice cream (I'm a fan of Dreyers Slow Churned) along with a scoop of the Gospel basics.

I really need to stop relating Gospel Principles to food.  It makes me hungry.

on Sunday study.

Today was a good day.  I love Sundays and how actively I can feed my soul.  Today was no exception.  The testimonies that were born were kindling to my own testimony (especially my own husband's testimony on prayer.  Man oh man, I married one spiritual giant).

I loved the history background that was given to the Doctrine and Covenants during Sunday School and Relief Society was spent on Robert C. Gay's talk, "What Shall a Man Give in Exchange for His Soul?"  It was spiritual in the sense I felt completely that my soul was being fed and wanted more.  So we went home and studied the talk and marked it up (good thing we get 2 conference Ensigns or Tyler might get fed up with all of my markings...).
