Who Says Small Towns Aren't Fun?

Because they have extreme charm in small towns. And I'm not kidding.

T and I have been enjoying ourselves in two specific small towns the past two weekends.

This weekend we went to the Castle Valley Pageant in small town Castle Dale, Ut. where we had some serious fun awaiting us.

We made prairie diamonds,
We Ate and Ate and Ate...
homemade honey candy,
homemade ice cream,
homemade dutch oven,
and homemade bread and butter!

We rode in a horseless buggy for the pure pleasure of saying we sat in a buggy that felt like it might fall apart at any moment...

We checked out the neat-o tepee, but the coolest part was when a scraggly mountain man taught us how the Native Americans scalped someone. Did you know they could get up to 3-4 scalps off of just one person?! One! And the craziest part of it all? They have written documents proving that people actually survived being scalped! How would you like being scalp-less and still living?

I think I'd rather be dead.
But it was the coolest history lesson I've ever had!

Tyler and my Padre showed off their roping skills. My Dad was actually off teaching little kids how to throw it correctly while my cowboy of a husband was doing this...

My childhood dream was to marry a cowboy and live on a ranch. I think that dream is slowly coming true. T is an expert roper (which he learned from a past mission comp.), I was drooling the whole time over this hottie cowboy.

He just needs a dusty brown hat, tight wranglers, and a pair of worn cowboy boots to finish it all.

The past weekend we spent in small town Fairview, UT. where a pretty large car show was being held. This beauty was my favorite...

Black. Red. Truck. How could you go wrong with that combo?

One of T's favorites. He was in his complete comfort zone being surrounded by "sweet" cars.

THEN... we went to the Fairview Days Rodeo! I love rodeos and everything that has to do with them. I always wanted to be a barrel racer, but I guess I can live vicariously through the rodeo stars. Either way, I love it!

T was the rodeo photographer, didn't he do amazing? This was one of my favorites he took, the bronc was just headed toward bucking this cowboy off and T got the perfect shot before the cowboy shot to the ground.

And, of course, we had to get a picture together at the rodeo. Look at the people around us, how on earth can you go to a rodeo without flannel? Seriously people, just because it 100+ degrees outside doesn't mean you forget about rodeo dress. At least my husband had a shirt and huge belt buckle that could pass for cowboy-"ish." We're working on it.

We've been having fun. A LOT of fun. Follow in our footsteps and go have small town fun.
It's seriously a blast.
