Lovelock

T and I left for a 4-day weekend trip with my family last week to California.
On our way there, we passed a cute little town in Nevada named Lovelock.
The little town had the cutest historical background.
Below you'll find the complete legend...

In the center of town, behind the city courthouse, are ordinary green pillars connected by chains.

The thing that makes these extraordinary are the hundreds of locks attached to each chain.

Each lock is a symbol of a couples love.
As the legend says,
"Fasten the lock on the chain and throw away the key, thus uniting your love for eternity.
What great symbolism!

T and I decided to buy our own lock and key and participate in this small town's tradition.
T even carved our initials and the date into our lock...

As luck would have it, our first lock was a dud and wouldn't close! That made us laugh and we decided to give it another try.
This time, the lock closed and we united our love for eternity.

My parents actually did it with us also and our locks remain side by side on one of the chains.

Here's to an eternity of utterly wonderful love.

  1. I've been to Lovelock (I'm from Nevada)! Most towns in Nevada are little poop towns, Lovelock being one of them. I didn't know about the locks. That is so cute! Brian and I should do that some day when we drive by. Did you pass through Elko? That's where I'm from!
