I hate it when Daylight Savings comes around in the spring. Last week was torture trying to get up on one less hour of sleep.
It's amazing what missing one little hour does to the body. In short, I was exhausted by the end of the week. Which meant a lazy Saturday morning was in order!
And I did just that. I slept and read in bed until 10:30 this morning. That's the latest this body of mine has stayed in bed for a long time.
It felt good.
But it felt even better to drag myself out of bed and make some breakfast for my hard-working husband who had been up all morning doing homework. We ate one of our favorite meals of broiled grapefruit and peanut butter and banana toast.
Delish.
Then we headed out to Home Depot to grab some garden soil, pansies, seeds, and other miscellaneous gardening items.
We took our goods home and started spring cleaning around the outside of our little duplex. It was the perfect spring day to mow the lawn, clean out the shed, plant flowers and our the first rows of peas of the year, and start our little herb garden.
We finally got our little shed cleaned out (thank goodness we didn't take a "before" picture). It was a disaster before we sprayed it down and got everything else cleaned up inside!
We decided to go with pansies this year to plant. After experimenting with a lot of different flowers in our flower beds in the past, we decided it was time to pick a hearty flower that didn't need a ton of sun on the northern side of the house.
Yellow was the winning color of pansy for the pots along the front steps.
My dashing husband was such a good sport during the entire process. He mowed the lawn, carried the enormous bags of soil on his shoulders to raise the flower beds, and planted and watered right alongside me.
I love how hardworking he is. I never wanted to marry a super lazy husband. And I didn't! He's always up for an adventure and enjoys everything outdoors with me.
We prepped the garden boxes for planting later this spring and put in the first rows of peas this year.
The new thing we decided to attempt this year is an herb garden. We started off with planted basil and cilantro (the main herbs we use at our house) and we'll see if they end up growing. Hopefully we'll be eating fresh pesto in the coming months!
It was one of the best days we've had together in a while. It was so nice to just be together and enjoy each other's company on a Saturday.
We didn't have any other plans. We didn't have any baptisms to go to. We didn't have any pressing duties.
We just enjoyed each other.

Happy Spring.
You guys are just too cute!
