Porter's place, moving news, good food.

This year, I really appreciate Martin Luther King Jr.  What he accomplished, and even more, what he inspired people to do was incredible.

And this year, I appreciate the fact that he was so incredible we get a day off of work to celebrate.

It was a much needed day off.

I got to hang out with these two hooligans and go out to eat at Porter's Place in Lehi.  Oh my.  You can say that baby and I were pretty happy after eating food from here.

{Toad and Myst}

T even got off work early (yeah, he's one of the few that had to work...) to come eat lunch with us!  Thank you again, Martin Luther King!  Because of you, I got to spend a usually boring Monday with awesome people.

It also took us 3 tries to get somewhat of a decent picture...

{Take 1}

{Take 2- Yummilicious peach and orange iced shake!}

{Take 3- T couldn't stop laughing... Why yes, we are adults and about to have a baby.  Don't judge.}

T ordered a 1/2 pounder with a side of fries.  Good thing he works out.

Baby and I had a French Dip sandwich that was to die for.  I mean, it was so good.  Usually, I try to not eat this much meat in one helping while I'm prego, but all of the sudden I started with the thought of saving half for later and it was gone!

Whoops.  Oh well.  We enjoyed it!

We all went to IKEA afterwards to browse and shop.  T and I went to buy some shelving and odds and ends because... we're MOVING!

Long story short, our neighbor in our duplex is buying the place.  She graciously said we could stay as long as we wanted and would slowly raise the rent (ha!  yeah, right!) if we kept up the outside of the place and everything else we were doing (let's just say, we've always kept up "everything" and she hasn't had to do a lick outside for the past 4 years-which we've been fine with, but with this change, we suddenly became not so fine with).  We'll be honest, we were both pretty upset and though our neighbor is a sweet lady and we wish her the best, there was no way we would be staying and renting property through her.  Period.

Previous to this information she passed on to us (and we checked with the present landlords) we were also supposed to get some of the basement space for when the baby comes so we could have room for a crib and baby stuff. Our neighbors apparently need that space and we wouldn't have any room for a baby, much less any storage, which is also one of the main reasons she's buying the place.  There was no other choice for us to make except to move.  We just wouldn't have enough room with a baby on the way.

So, we started browsing apartments in the ward (we finally made a bunch of friends after 4 years, we really wanted to stay around!) the day after our neighbor said she'd be buying the duplex.  I was freaking out because I didn't want to move into a new ward, have a brand-new baby, and then have no friends in the neighborhood.  I know I'd become a hermit.  I also didn't want to have to move at 8-9 months pregnant and not be able to prep anything for a baby.  My OCD was kicking in and T was ever the good husband and gave me a priesthood blessing.  We also went over to my parents and asked my dad to give T a blessing too.  We both see the strength and power that come from blessings and the peace we both received was needed.

We felt like we should go down the street and check to see if an apartment under the chiropractic office would be open (we seriously thought none of them would be).  We walked in to just get our names on a list if any did happen to open up and lo and behold the landlady said one had just opened up that day!  They hadn't even told anyone yet!

We went and took a look at the place, fell in love with the ginormous kitchen and living room (at least twice the size of the place we're living now) along with the spacious closets and actual storage space!  Even though it's a basement apartment, it's one of the only ones with massive windows!  We'll still get our Vitamin D!  The only con we could think of was the dark green carpet in every. single.  room.  Easily fixed by large area rugs. We signed a contract for the place today (Monday) and we move this Saturday!  So, in the space of 4 days, we have completely rearranged our life and prepared for some awesome changes!  We're excited!

The next few weeks should be eventful.  I have my big teaching exam, SEP conferences, all of my usual teaching duties (along with 100th Day of School, Valentines Day, End of Term grades), 2 doctor appointments, moving into and setting up a new place, preparing a relief society lesson this weekend (sorry in advance, ladies!) and trying to keep my head sane.

But T and I are ever so grateful.  Heavenly Father has guided us toward our decision to move and has gradually been preparing us for it!  We're actually glad we didn't find out the gender of this baby sooner or we would've started putting a baby room together before finding out we'd need to move.  I've also started hating how small our apartment is and started dejunking things to make it more open for little hands and feet to start crawling.  Which, meant that we've already done most of the dejunking required for a move (cleaning out closets, getting rid of useless items, etc.).  As T and I sat in the temple last Saturday seriously contemplating and praying about our decision to move, we both felt at peace and excited for it.  There's no denying that this is what we're supposed to do.

No doubt.

So bring on the moving boxes...

{boxes courtesy of my mama and papa who stacked them in front of our door early this morning!}

And let's start filling them up!

 {kitchen non-essentials already packed and ready for moving day!  Onto the other rooms...}

 On another note, we've made some AMAZING food the past couple of weeks!  Our favorite has been the cilantro lime chicken recipe we found on Pinterest last week.  We paired it with a bean and corn salad with peppers and cilantro and it was deliciously delicious!

 {It even looooooks good!}

Here's to good food, family, and new life changes coming!
