T and I had a little wake up moment this week. We just realized that this kid is going to be born in 15 weeks and we have pretty much nothing done for Baby Girl yet.
Nothing. Nada. Zip.
Except for the bunches of baby books I've stocked up on using my bonus points on scholastic (hello perk of being a teacher!), a few binkies, some vintage stuffed animals ("vintage" really being old stuffed animals that we slobbered over as kids), a few blankets, a crib that needs painting, and a blessing gown (props to my mom for saving mine from when I was a baby AND picking one out in the '90's that was actually pretty!).
But, hey, this little gal isn't going to need a ton during her first few months here! As long as she's got food, dry diapers, and a place to lay her head (and maybe a few cute bows to put on that head), I think we're actually pretty prepared...
Add to the fact that we somehow did all of the following in the month of January:
-found out we wanted/needed to move
-found a new apartment to move into a few days later
-packed and moved a week later
-unpacked and attempted to make the apartment livable for awhile
-went to 2 doctor appointments
-went to 2 dentist appointments (no cavities!)
-prepped, prepared, and made it through a week of S.E.P's
-T took a couple of midterms
-T got new responsibilities at work which has made for some long days
-J studied for and took a teaching relicensing exam (thank goodness for her study buddy, Rochelle!)
I'd say we did plenty during January. We've been looking forward to February, though we're grateful for everything that happened during January. We've needed a bit of a breather and it's been fun to concentrate a little more on Baby Girl the past few days.
T's new found activity is to poke around my stomach and wait for Baby Girl to punch/kick back. It's actually pretty hilarious. She definitely is going to be a firecracker and not let any boys beat up on her. I wouldn't necessarily say I have "cravings," but there are certain things that sound good. Like cereal. I mean, I've always been a cereal-aholic, but oh how I love to even just snack on the stuff now. Apparently I'm still eating the other "good" stuff for my body too though. No iron or other supplements and weight gain is slowly increasing. We've gone up 12 pounds since finding out we were pregnant. I'd say we're right on track to keeping this little one healthy and happy (with plenty of cereal...).
We're patiently waiting for Baby Girl's due date to get here. We're definitely not in any rush to have her get here anytime soon! She can keep cooking as long as she wants... Mama and Daddy still have plenty they need to do before her arrival!
Oh! And no. We don't have any names yet. A list? Maybe. But we're still pretty set on not giving this little one a name until we see her. At least, that's still the decision for now. :)
You are so beautiful!! Yay for lucky babies!!
