FHE. kussee style.

T and I will be the first ones to admit it.  FHE (Family Home Evening) is hard when there's just two of you.  And it's hard to do it every week without it turning into a glorified scripture study between each other.  

This week, we decided to actually do an activity for part of FHE.

Which meant bring on the car wash.

Our cars were getting pretty gross.  End of winter grime and buildup were collecting in massive amounts that were no longer okay with us.  Add to the fact that we don't have covered parking and you'd understand that our poor vehicles were suffering from the nastiness that winter roads and weather bring.

So after collecting our quarters (which, mind you, is quite the feat) and heading to the car wash, we vacuumed out Kermit (the Explorer) and Fang (the Saturn) and then headed into the wash.  We were kind of cutting it close on quarters, so we lined both cars up in the spray 'n wash and did both of them rather than going into two stalls.  

We're super smart like that.

We were also cutting it close to when the sun went down.  You can see in the picture above that the lamp-post lights are coming on while we're washing our beauties.  However, we did get them done just in the nick of time!

T took care of the spraying while I turned the dial to switch from each cleaning position.  He may have sprayed me a time or two and gotten the biggest kick out of getting me wet.  He may have also gotten a punch in the gut for doing so (a little bit of tough love never hurt anyone...).

You know you've done dang well for yourself when your husband looks good even when he's washing cars.  He still gives me butterflies and makes my stomach do loop-de-loos.

We're big fans of washing cars.  It's one of the few chores that both of us enjoy doing.  Which is why we usually do it together.  We might have a little too much fun doing it!

Now, what productive thing can we do next week for FHE?

wafflin' it up.

After being married for over 3 years we've finally done it.  We've finally made some pretty awesome friends in the ward that we actually want to hang out with.

Not that there aren't plenty of people in our ward that we don't want to hang out with, mind you.  But our new friend, Jana, put it perfectly in her blog that even after you're married, you still have to be "dating."  Making couple friends is exactly like dating.  Except worse.  T and I have to get along with both the husband and wife in the other couple.  That gets a little more tricky.  

You see, I have a hard time making long-lasting friendships.  Regular, every day friendships at work are easy as you pass by each other in the hall or talk for half an hour at lunch.  But finding someone I actually want to hang out with that has the same interests, but isn't boring, too over the top, too chatty, or too intrusive is tricky business. 

But we've successfully done it (knock on wood).  Pizza nights and FHE are much more fun when you add another couple to the mix that love to play games afterwards.  

Especially when they invite you along to fulfill one of their bucket list adventures to the Waffle Truck!

We ended up getting a Nutella Love waffle and a Waffle Works waffle.  Oh.  My.  Word.

Eventually we'll get a group picture with Jana and Dustin, but for now, a picture of their adorable little man will have to suffice.

FHE in the Kussee Household

FHE around our house can either get really exciting or very dull, very quickly, around our house on Monday nights.

It's tricky as a family of 2 to hold exciting and fun FHE without it turning into a glorified scripture study.

After a lesson, scripture, prayer, and a song (the usual) we moved onto the activity.  Now, I'll be honest.  We usually skip the activity and go straight to the treat part of FHE.  Tonight was an exception.  T pulled out some never been opened games at our house and we went to town playing Sorry! and Twister.

My husband is a genius.

Apparently Twister has a set of rules for just 2 players.  It just became a game we'll potentially play a lot more around our house.  

T won most of the games.  His long limbs and torso are meant for this game.  I won one game.

Twister is actually a killer Monday night workout.  My arms were shaking like nobody's business holding myself up.  Can anyone say, "weakling?"  I've got to start doing more exercise than running.

Sorry! was a contender for the top game of the night also.  I think Twister just fit in with our little kid mood at the time.  Colored dots and body parts are the ultimate game for a pair of kids grownups.

One day our children will thank us for being this cool.
