a conglomeration of pizza, plants, monsters, etc.

May has been a whirlwind of a month!  This week especially.  We finally got T some new suits so we can stop seeing the drab missionary suits on him.  Oh what joy!  Pictures soon to come of my hottie of a husband in a well-cut suit.

Amongst the adventure of finding the right suits and fittings, T and I also attempted to plan our Sunday lessons throughout the week.  Ha!  Yeah, right.  That didn't happen until the latter end of the week.

I had professional development meetings throughout the week and attempted to plan for subs and gather data on students for the end of the year.  End of the year testing is kicking my trash as I try to figure out times to assess 32 students.  I was also greeted by a nasty email or two in the middle of the week and consoled myself with chocolate and my hero of a husband.

He even made me a delicious dinner on Friday with the pizza stone we finally invested in a few weeks ago.  Bytheway, this pizza stone has completely changed pizza night for us.  Along with this thin crust pizza dough recipe our friends introduced us too.

 {Thank heaven for friday pizza night to look forward to after a long week.  We still have yet to take a picture of our other crazy fav's we've been making up.  Trust me, boring pepperoni usually takes a back seat on pizza nights.}

T even makes our bed.  I'll be honest, he's the one that usually makes the bed in the mornings while I'm finishing up getting ready.  He truly is a gem of a husband.  Otherwise, we might have an unkept bed close to every day of the week.

We've also been growing herbs for the first time.  The first round was going well until I accidentally left them out overnight while it was still too cold.  Poor little plants never had a chance.  A few survivors stayed around, but I think they cringe any time they see me coming.

The next batch I was a little heavy handed with the basil seeds.  But, hey, they're growing and looking happy as ever.  They give the first round of basil a talk every morning...

With the help of my mom (thanks, mom!) I finally finished the last of the birthday monsters for my class.  It took me a lifetime to finally finish them.  I've officially made 67 of these cute little guys in the past 2 school years.  I'm still wondering if I'll be crazy enough next year to sew another class set.  This year might be the end of the birthday monsters.

T gifted me with the perfect gift for Mother's day this year.  He called it my "Future" Mother's Day gift since we'll eventually have kids.  I call it "Another Excuse for T to Spoil Me" day.

I love old books.  Or books that look like old books.  Or books with really cool covers.  Or books that just have a great story in them.

The school finally switched out my old Mac and gave every single teacher a brand spankin' new MacBook Pro.  AND we get another 2nd grade teacher next year which means I no longer have to wonder if I'll be teaching another class size of 32.

Principal Nielsen royally (ok, not royally, but close to it) spoiled the entire faculty this week.  There's no other principal that loves the kids, faculty, and even the parents more than this man.  I love working for him.  What a guy what a guy!

This little creature sits on the door to our oven all day.  He's recently become a celebrity around our house.  People come over just to see him.  Forget the living breathing humans that live in our house.  One missionary in particular chuckles and laughs as he does puppet shows with this little guy in our kitchen.

What a crack up.

All in all, it's been great!

Life throws trials at us left and right and we always end up out on top.  It's tricky to get through our disappointments and frustrations and sometimes the ones we love end up being hurt the most.  We've been learning together and loving life together.  T's out of school for the summer and elementary school is only in for another week and a half.  Then summer here we come!

We need a break.  Badly.
