This baby is a champ! It's made it through Mama's first illness of the year and has a nice strong heartbeat. I even sucked it up and got a flu shot this week. Making sacrifices for the benefit of the kid already. We also got more bloodwork done at this last appointment to check for Down Syndrome, Spinda Bifida, Trisomy, etc. More needles and pricking. Something that this Mama is slowly getting used to.
During our past appointment I also had this irrational fear that we wouldn't hear a heartbeat at all. I'm fine up until the point that I'm sitting on the exam room table and have to wait for the doctor to show up. Then all of these fears and anxieties sneak in and I become a basket case until we hear the heartbeat. Poor T. What he has to put up with!
Speaking of heartbeats though, when our doctor gets out the fetal heart doppler, she always finds the baby's heartbeat nice and quick. It's like our little baby already wants to be the center of attention and say, "Hey! I'm right here! Look at me!" We're pretty proud parents already.
We're crossing out fingers that we get to find out the gender this week.
I also felt great today! One of the first days I didn't feel sick at all and had more energy than usual. Oh happy day! We even felt up to starting the obligatory "baby bump" photos. I really just feel fat these days. Especially since Thanksgiving was only a week ago, I look like I ate one slice of pie too many. Depending on the day, I sometimes I have a bit of a bump and sometimes don't. I still haven't felt Baby Kussee move yet, but hopefully in the weeks to come we start feeling those "flutters" and movements.
T has even started falling asleep with an arm wrapped around my stomach. When I wake up during the night he's still usually in the same position. Every so often throughout the day he puts his arms around my waist and cradles our tiny bump. It's pretty adorable. Now that we know the baby is starting to hear sounds, it's even more exciting to have T pull out his guitar and sing. This baby better love some music and getting rocked to sleep listening to it's daddy's voice and the guitar.

Suffice it to say, T and I are pretty excited at the prospect of the coming months and the whirlwind of baby preparations to make and do. We're thrilled to become parents in just over 5 months! Whoa.
That's kinda soon.
