Today was our very first doctor appointment.  We met with the nurse and talked about
medical history and our insurance coverage and what to expect to pay.
I was pretty nervous leading up to the appointment.  They only do the first appointment in the
morning so I had to take the morning off from work and get a sub.  My grandparents work out at the clinic in the
mornings and we just so happened to run into them on our way to the doctor’s
office.  That was fun trying to explain
why we were there and not actually telling them that we were pregnant!
After we met with the NP, we headed down to the lab to get
blood work and lab tests done.  It was my
first time getting my blood drawn and I was more than just a little
anxious.  Tyler held my hand while the
nice black lady was quick and drew my blood.
I kept my eyes averted the entire time and squeezed Tyler’s hand like a
lifeline.  Surprisingly, it was better
than getting a shot at the dentist.  I
was quite proud that she left me without any bruising.  I warned her that this was my first time
getting my blood drawn so she better not mess up.  Otherwise, I’d never be coming back.  She took several vials of blood
(bloodsuckers!) and then sent me to the bathroom to do the obligatory pee in
the cup.  Ugh.  What is with pregnancy and peeing?
Our first doctor’s appointment is over!  We’ll meet with Doctor Harrison next Friday
for our first sonogram (yay, heartbeat!) and checkup.
Janae and Kyle Roland also came over tonight.  Kyle had a football practice at Dixon field
so Janae came over to talk for a while.
We finally got ahold of Katie to talk with when Kyle was done with his
game and Tyler got home from school.
Janae announced that they are 7 weeks pregnant!  Katie freaked on the phone.  I freaked sitting next to Tyler.  Tyler was poking me and raising his eyebrows
like “are we going to tell them now?”  After
that excitement died down and Janae talked about how sick she is and how much
she’s throwing up, she handed the phone to me to say goodbye to Katie.  We decided to make our own announcement and
announced that we’re 11 weeks!  And the
freak outs happened all over again.  I’ve
been hoping Janae and I would have babies close together!  They’ll only be a month apart!  Hallelujah!
Kyle and Tyler and pretty stoked about becoming fathers,
though I’m so glad I have Tyler as my partner through this.  Kyle is a little rough around the edges and
there’s no doubt he’s excited to be a dad, I just know that Tyler is so
supportive through everything I’m feeling and experiencing.  Oh how I love that man of mine.
We also sent out a mass text to Tyler’s siblings
tonight.  It would have been nice to tell
them in person that we are expecting, but everyone’s so busy that we decided to
just do a fun text with a baby announcement.
We’re so excited that Kole and Airyn’s baby will only be a couple of
months older than our baby.  I’m crossing
my fingers that we’ll have boys.  Oh how
fun that would be!  Or girls.  Just healthy babies.  Please.
